Moving a machine is more than moving weight
When a plant rearranges a line, adds a new machine or clears out an old one, the move itself is only part of the job. The machine has to be shut down and disconnected, rigged and moved without damage, set and leveled in its new spot, and powered back up. When those steps are split between a rigger and an electrician, the machine often sits idle waiting on one crew or the other.
CDS Electric & Industrial Services does all of it. We move machinery up to 50,000 pounds across eastern North Carolina, and as a licensed electrical contractor we handle the disconnect and the reconnect too.
Machinery moving services
In-plant relocations
Machines moved from one spot to another inside a facility when a line is rearranged or floor space is reorganized, with the power moved to match.
New machine installations
New equipment unloaded from the truck, moved into the building, set in position and wired, so it's ready for startup.
Plant-to-plant moves
Equipment disconnected, loaded and moved between facilities, then set and reconnected at the new site.
Removal and decommissioning
Old machinery disconnected, made safe and removed, whether it's being sold, stored or scrapped.
Shipping preparation
Machinery packaged and prepared for shipping when it's leaving your facility.

How a move works
- Look at the job. We review the machine's weight and size, the path it has to travel, doors, floors and overhead clearances, and what needs to be disconnected.
- Plan. We work out the rigging and sequence, pick the right equipment for the job, from air bags and rollers to forklifts and cranes, and schedule around your production.
- Disconnect. Power is shut off, locked out and disconnected by our electricians.
- Move and set. The machine is rigged, moved, and set in place.
- Reconnect. We wire the machine at its new location so it's ready to run.
