Electrical work that keeps a facility running
When a line goes down or a new machine shows up on the dock, a plant needs an electrician who understands industrial equipment and can work around a production schedule. CDS Electric & Industrial Services has done industrial and commercial electrical work in eastern North Carolina since 1994. We're licensed by the state, we pull the permits the job requires, and we work with your maintenance team rather than around it.
What we do
Machine and equipment hookups
New equipment needs power run to it, a disconnect, and a clean, code-compliant connection. We wire new machines, move power to relocated equipment, and disconnect and make safe equipment that's coming out. Because CDS also does equipment moving and rigging, we can handle the disconnect, the move and the reconnection as one job.
Switchgear, panels and distribution
We install and work on switchgear, distribution panels and the feeders between them, whether it's a new panel for added equipment or rework of an existing electrical room. Our work covers systems up to 600 volts, which includes the 480-volt three-phase power most plants run on. We don't do high-voltage utility work above 600 volts.
Conduit runs
Neat, well-supported conduit is the backbone of an industrial installation. We install EMT and rigid conduit runs overhead and along walls, sized and routed for the conductors and the space.

Lighting
We repair, upgrade and add lighting in plants, warehouses, shops and commercial spaces, from replacing failed fixtures to relighting a whole area.
Data cabling
We run Cat 6 data cable for offices, production areas and equipment that needs a network connection.
Temporary generator connections
When a facility needs temporary power during an outage, a shutdown or a service change, we connect rental generators safely and to code.
Piping work around equipment
We also install air lines, screw pipe and copper sweat pipe, and wastewater lines that carry discharge from production machines to the evaporator room. It's the kind of work that often comes up alongside an equipment install, and it saves bringing in another contractor.
Demolition and removal
We handle equipment and electrical demolition: disconnecting and removing old machinery, making circuits safe, and clearing out conduit and wiring that's no longer in use.

Recent project: compressed air system for Stanadyne
CDS completed a new compressed air system for Stanadyne. Our crew handled the electrical work, including power, wiring and the disconnects, set the air compressors and air tanks in place, and ran the air piping that ties the system together. It's a good example of a job that would normally take three different contractors.
